Music When You Are In Dark Times

Now, i know you may have come across something like this elsewhere or heard someone say something about music lifting their soul but i can assure you my story is different.

I grew Up in a christian home and my dad is a preacher. He happens to be a founder of a body of faith and you can only imagine what growing up in that kind of home will be unless you were birthed into one.

I was exposed early to musical instrument and started playing with them at a very tender age. I was never actually serious with music as i had a brother who was very good and talented.

You can tell that he had all the attention when it came to the looks and talent.

I was only considered relevant when it had to do with debates, church spoken activities and sword drills among the church kids. My senior brother ( a year older) was getting all the attention for music and it hurt so bad cos i wanted it as well.

Kids Playing Instrument In Church

I started doing so many crazy things; many of which i just laugh at now that i am grown.

Dark Times And Music

Well, it;s easy to say that i turned out to be a music head and great musician later due to the fact that i was passionate about it. I won’t directly agree with this because it’d not like i put in a lot of work. It was in there in me somewhere and i just had to let it out.

Being born into a family whose dad was great singer in his youth and your mum is not bad either. I had 4 siblings and we all were great singer. My elder brother who seemed to be good with every instrument he touched finally ended up being a keyboardist and i a drummer.

the love we shared when were were older and in our teen years was too adorable when compared to how rebellious i was when were younger and we constantly fighting.

High School

when i started high school, it was my second time away from home alone and facing life the right and it’s struggles on my own. Not like i have always been with my people cos i was a boarder in college but i still met with my parents once in 6 weeks.

It as different now in high school because i only went home once in a very long time. I went through a lot on my own in secret and the only thing that saved me throughout this period was music.

When i felt bad and weak; as if the world was going to crumble on me( i put on my headset;

when i felt rejected, i put on my headset, i strike that chord or hit that floor tom on my drum-set so hard.

Thanks to y drum-set for sticking with me throughout that period of struggles.
Music is life.
